After our land package ended in Ho Chi Minh City, we flew back to Singapore. Since we had a morning flight (9:10am) back to Vancouver, we decided to stay overnight at the Changi Airport Crowne Plaza. This hotel is accessible from Terminal 3, Level 2 of Changi airport. Our flights were flying out of Terminal 2, but it was a quick train ride from one terminal to the other.
My husband’s cousin (who is a travel agent and was on the trip with us), was able to book us a room using his travel agent rate. Including taxes and fees, this worked out to $288SGD for the one night in a Standard King Bed room.
Check-in was at 3:00pm, and by the time we got off our flight and made it to Terminal 3, it was after 3:00pm, so we were able to check in right away.
This room was situated in the main building of the hotel. It was on the 3rd level, which is the same level of the pool. Our room was #331. Features of the room included:
- 40-inch Smart TV
- In-room Bluetooth device
- Spacious work desk
- Ergonomic Herman Miller chair
- Pillow menu
- Premium bathroom amenities
- Personal safe
There was an open-air hallway to get to our room. Inside the room there was an open closet on the right.
After the closet was a counter with a kettle and some drawers.
Under the counter was a mini fridge.
In the one corner was a bench for luggage, a sofa, chair and table. Under the TV were a number of electrical and USB outlets.
To the left was the bathroom. There were actually 2 sliding doors to close the bathroom (coming to a corner).
Inside the bathroom were separate areas for the shower and toilet.
The shower amenities were a Fig and Feijoa brand.
At the bathroom sink was also a separate tap with filtered water to be used for drinking or brushing your teeth.
The bed was spacious and had another couch in front of it.
One complaint I have about this room is the light switches. Even though there were bedside lamps, they were tied to the same switch for the overhead lights. So, there was no way to have just the bedside lamps on. Also, the light switches for the bathroom were halfway down the hallway towards the door, which not convenient for any bathroom trips during the night. I noticed that there was a lighted make-up mirror in the bathroom, so I thought I could turn that on to be a sort of night-light. But, the mirror light was tied to the switch for the rest of the bathroom, so you couldn’t just turn on just the mirror. So, that was a little annoying.
The hotel only has single restaurant – Allora Ristorante and Bar – which is just off the main lobby. This is an authentic Italian restaurant that also provides poolside service. It was open from 6:30am until midnight. We did not have a chance to eat at the restaurant.
The hotel also had the following amenities:
- Outdoor pool
- Fitness Centre
- Club Lounge
Because we were here for such a short time, we didn’t have time to use any these amenities. But the pool area looked inviting.
With the short stopover, the location of the hotel was great. The entrance to the Jewel was right next to the hotel, so it was handy to have so many shops and restaurants nearby. It was also really easy to get from the hotel to the various terminals at the airport for the flight.
Other than the quirky light switches, the room had a nice layout and lots of space. So, this is definitely a nice option for quick stopovers in Singapore.
